Six organisations, each from a different European country, take part in the project. These are:
- F.O.K.U.S., Germany
- Instituut voor Gebruikersparticipatie en Beleid B.V., the Netherlands,
- Global Initiative on Psychiatry-Sofia, Bulgaria
- Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata Di Trieste, Italy
- Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom
- Piod, Poland
From the cross-national approach of the project, we expect to gain an additional European value according to the European Strategy 2010-2020. Because parts of the social and educational systems of the European Union as well as its social structures differ very much, we consider it necessary to involve organisations from different European regions (East-, Middle- and South Europe) to guarantee that the Empowerment College is suited for the possible implementation in countries with very different starting conditions. The development, implementation and evaluation phase of the project will be adapted to national circumstances. Every European partner has a specific expertise in the field of psychiatry and contributes this to the project. In this context it is important to take the multi-dimensionality of the partners (West Europe, South Europe and East Europe) into consideration. This is the prerequisite for the successful realisation of this complex educational project.
